#JaySkyLog 2: Life Changing Experiences

Moving forward is an essential part of both human nature and growth. Over the past weeks after much consideration, I’ve decided that it’s time I take a break from the music industry. Since 2005 I’ve learned several things about the music and it’s industry. I’ve mastered Performance, Mixing, Mastering, DJing, Producing and creating quality music projects. I met more people than you could imagine and had the time of my life. I have taken with me experiences both good and bad that has created the Jay Skywalka that the world either loves or hates.

June 2011 will start my temporary exile as a recording artist with the release of ‘The Hit List 4: Coolest of the Cool’. Work began on THL4 in December 2010 and won’t stop until May 2011. The CD contains elements of Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, Techno, DubStep and 80s music. I describe it as a mixtape that starts wild and accelerates to 90 miles per second. My goal is to make a CD that defines the sound of Jay Skywalka from begin to end. I’m sure that this mixtape will have something that everybody will enjoy.

So what am I moving forward too? New experiences, new challenges, higher places, and the career of a lifetime. I have plans and ideas that will shape my future and take Jay Skywalka to the next level. Most importantly the world will be able to follow me on this journey with the webshow ‘My Reality SEASON TWO’. Stay tuned as more details surface!

Don’t consider it the end of my recording career, because it is NOT! Music is a part of me that could never go. It fuels my fire and allows me express my thoughts. It’s what I live for and just know that when I do return to the music scene it will be EPIC. But in the meanwhile be on the lookout for Jay Skywalka’s ‘The Hit List 4’ in June and The SkyTunes ‘From Another Planet’ this summer.

   Thanks,

Jay Skywalka

THL4 - The Explaination

'The Hit List 4' is the most in depth release of the series to date. It discusses varies situations that i handle on a daily basis and my personal response to each of them. It begins with 'The Hit List 4: Hood_Pop dot Swagger' which simply states that I be cool person embrace the streets but not feed into the negative stereotype that surrounds it. I'm tryna set a positive outlook on all aspects of life. Whether you're the poorest kid on the streets or the richest man in the world it's all about making the world a better place.

'The Hit List 4.5: I'm So Got Damn Arrogant' is a from anyone that's ever been doubted to person that doubted them. Also, emboding a positive focus, this half discusses how to move forward and ignore anyone with less than great expectations of you.

Lastly, 'The Hit List 4.75: MYDB' enforces the previous 2 entries by telling those "haters" to be more concerned about their own life direction and money. I've made my 2011 the official year of "Mind Your Damn Business"!

THL4 – What to Expect

The Hit List 4 is coming together perfectly, I’m loading this new project full of NEW tracks, mixtape tracks, unreleased material, and exclusive previews to my LP ‘The Final Fantasy’ (due out this November). Expect a combination of sounds similar to ‘The Hit List 3: 90/360 Dayz’, with a range of Hip-Hop to Pop and everywhere in between. The next track to be released from the project is titled “He Who Bulids Quick Machines”. It is an up tempo track featuring a very special guest. I’ve been working on this track for 2 months making sure it has the right sounds and quality mixing. Overall I think everyone will be impressed by this project, it’s a definite upgrade and showcases the effort placed in this CD.

Disc 1 includes 2 projects ‘The Hit List 4: Hood_Pop dot Swagger’ and “The Hit List 4.5: I’m So Got Damn Arrogant’. The 2nd Disc to the mixtape is the 3rd project ‘The Hit List 4.75: Mind Yo Damn Business’. Each of the 3 projects have a theme and songs that match. In the next blog I will discuss the meanings behind each version.

The World Blog’s “2011 of the Year” Awards

Hip-Hop Artist of the Year – T.I.

  • Even though he got out of jail and went back in the same year. There’s no denying that TIP made an impact on 2010. With non-album singles “I’m Back”, “Yeah Ya Know”, album tracks “I Can’t Help It” (ft. Rocko), “Get Back Up” (ft. Chris Brown), “Castle Walls” (ft. Christina Aguilera), the movie ‘Takers’ and ‘Fuck A Mixtape’ … The King was “Uncaged” and showed “No Mercy”!

Pop Artist of the Year – Lady Gaga

  • Off the heels of her debut album ‘The Fame’ she released ‘The Fame Monster’ (EP) loaded full of more fist pumping hits. With outrageous videos and psychotic VMA outfits to match, I feel that Lady Gaga blew away the competition. Ke$ha, Taio Cruz, Jason Derulo, Beyonce! the “Princess of Pop” Britney Spears, and even the “Queen of Pop” Madonna couldn’t manage to read through her “Poker Face” (did I mention Lady Gaga can actually sing!!)

Rookie of the Year – Bei Maejor

  • Definitely a controversial topic when have artists like Wale, Wiz Khalifa, JBar, Waka Flocka Flame, J.Cole etc. who could dispute for the title. However, I’m riding with Mr. Maejor on this one. The dude actually has multi-talent! Anybody who can make a beat out of toys deserves the title ‘Super-Producer’ but he also sings, raps, and help crate some of the hottest songs of 2010. His mixtape/LPs ‘Upside Down 1 & 2’ are a flow great melodies and creativity on every song. Plus, he actually has something to talk about other than “Guns Sounds” LOL. It’s the “End of the Night” and whether you like it or not I’m calling Bei Maejor ‘Rookie of the Year’.

Overlooked+Indy Artist of the Year – Young Twist Rizer

      • Outside of the name change from Young Twist to Young Twist Rizer (due to copyright issues) this guy put in much worked. With producer Duck Trax they put together 2 amazing CDs in the form of ‘Play My S#!t’ and the ‘Certified Choe Chaser 2’ (both featured on numerous blog sites). Songs that include “Flip It” featuring Hypnotize Mindz Lil Wyte & Jellyroll and “Drop Top” featuring Grand Hustle’s Mike Bigga aka Killer Mike. This is just the start for the artist who’s motto is “Gettin’ to the money is an all day Grind”.

Song of the Year – Mike Posner “Cooler Than Me”

      • Almost at the border line of 1 hit wonder, Mike Posner smashed the summer radio waves with the lead single from his album ‘31 Minutes to Takeoff’. With talk of “designer shades to hide your face” he questioned You Think You’re “Cooler Than Me”.

Mixtape of the Year – B.O.B 'No Genre'

      • Dropped a mixtape and it sounded like an album! All I can say go check it out

Bei Maejor ‘Upside Down 2’ [12/2010 Mixtape of the Month]

Over the past year I’ve been discovering New Artist including Young Roc, Short Dawg, Kevin Fa$tlife and more. However, the this mixtape of the month goes to the rap-singing super producer Bei Maejor. His 1st mixtape/LP was a classic and this time he’s back with the super-smash ‘Upside Down 2: Hit Me Up’. With hot tracks including “Impressed” (co-produced by Rocco Valdes), “Upside Down” (ft. Jack Johnson), the intro “Right Now” and the remake “Hit Me Up Angel”.  Overall an excellent CD to experience, and looking forward to more music and a possible “official” LP from this dude.
